This year the french Rasso took place in the centre of France – in the Creuse department – more precisely in the pretty village of Châtelus-Malvaleix. It was arranged by Julien and Christine. And both have succeeded perfectly !!
Lea and I arrived Friday around 4:30 PM. Little by little, other Estafs came in and announced themselves with loud horns.
Camping Chatelus-Malvaleix
In total, there were 19 Estafs, 2 R4s and a few plastic cars and caravans in the campground.
I met a few at Rasso 2022, but I almost forgot all the names. We were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home.
The Creuse is very beautiful, very green – with wide winding hills, so that you do not feel the extent of the department.
Ideal for a Swiss from Thurgau 🙂
Samedi, Château de Villemonteix
On Saturday – the “Free Day” – I visited the Château de villemonteix (in Latin “Villa Montis”) – it was one of Christine and Julien’s proposals
The castle dates back to the 15th century and was restored in the 1980s.
It is furnished with precious tapestries, paintings and furniture of the period. The visit was made by an older gentleman, friendly and very educated – it was very interesting – even if I really only understood a small part 🙂
The visit lasted more than 2. 5 hours. Meanwhile, Lea was deeply sleeping in the Estaf and was groggy when I opened the door 🙂

Sunday – Picnic
On Sunday, there was a joint excursion to the observation tower of Toulx sainte croix . The view is sensational.
On the way back, we had a picnic at the foot of the “Statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary” – a statue of Mary that stands on a hill outside of the village “Roches”

Roches, Creuse (Wiki)
The statue on the rocky hill (called “stone of the fairies”) was inaugurated on Sunday 8 April 1877 by Abbé Gilbert Jamot. The small Romanesque chapel was built in 1892 at the foot of the rocks.
Relaxing, we had a picnic together, while the junior team played with a drone and put it by accident in to the crown of a nearby tree and tried to take it down with an basketball – not funny but entertaining 🙂
Travel
Depart
Lea and I left around three o’clock on Friday afternoon to Engwang, on the A1 towards Romandie, then to Yverdon “le Maleur” happens – the cable lug on the starter was broken (contact shaking) and needed repair – we managed to reach the industrial area of Yverdon-le-Bains where we spent the night. The next morning, we received a new massive cable lud in one of the garages and we were soon on our way to the road du Creux.

Way home
Monday morning, in Châtelus-Malvaleix, we leave at 8. 30 am – this time on the French side without the motorway. Shortly after Châtelus-Malvaleix, some overcrowded Charolais blocked the road, then we continued through Boussac – a very beautiful small town – until Moulins, Chalon-sur-Saône until Pontarlier. Then via Yverdon on the A1 back to Engwang. In the area of Chalon-sur-Saône, it became quite hot and we had to install a sunscreen for Léa
