Lazise 2022

Start 15. 8. – 10:30 , later than planned, in direction St Gallen then on the highway along Lake Constance and via Reintal to Splügen.
The pass was quickly reached – the weather was good and the temperature pleasant for Couchette
After a short photo stop we continued on the SS36 (Strada Statale 36 / Strada del Lago di Como e dello Spluga)
At Pianazzo (junction to S1) I continued on the hardly used old SS36 pass road to Campodolcino – at the probably narrowest place (google streetview) a brave caravan came up towards me 🙂
After Chiavenna we continued along Lake Como to Lecco
Unfortunately large pieces are tunneled and not as hoped with a view to the lake Como
Due to time constraints I did not get out of Mandello del Lario – Maybe next time I can visit the Moto Guzzi Museum
Then via Bergamo, Brescia to Peschiera del Garda with a coffee in between, guided by my 14 year old navi – sometimes not 🙂
all main roads and free of charge highway sections.
Funny the locals always drive 20-30 KmH faster (e. g. 70 -80 when 50 expected).
Arrival Colà (Lazise) at 18:30

Bei Federico auf Besuch

Federico is a member of Club Estafette Suisse – he and his family welcomed me warmly. They live on the edge of the town directly adjacent to the agricultural zone.

With Tomi on the walk

In the center of Colà there is a small store, comparable to a Volg in Switzerland. In the afternoon the family dog Tomi accompanied me on a long walk – around Colà there is a lot of wine and fruit (wonderful peaches)
Compared to Switzerland, however, it has few public roads (in the vineyards almost everything is plastered with prohibition signs)

Monte Loffa

Lake Garda and the nearby a lot of bikers was on the way (often with electric bikes)
Near Zuane Osteria we unfortunately passed an accident between a tourist biker and a local van
At Rivalta we turned into the Val Lagarina (Lagertal) and at Peri (Lost City) we drove up to Fosse / Monte Loffa. Unfortunately, the restauerant in Fosse was already closed at 1 o’clock.
Towards Sant’Anna d’Alfaedo we came across the access road to the Crossodromo Monte Loffa (Youtube) It was just lunch break, Tomi and I looked around and exchanged a few words with German motocrossers.

Continuing on the SP34 – via Pastrengo – back to Colà, we past tractors, donkeys and others

Sirmione

In the evening Federico einvited to sight seeing to the headland of Sirmione – it is fully dedicated to tourism – it feels like 1000 stores, restaurants and takeaways/gelatterias, it strongly reminds of Carcassonne 🙂

Return

Start Cola 18. 06. – 10:30
The last night in Colà it rained heavily, accompanied by gusts of wind. Porta Verona, where many tourists usually strolling through the markets, was empty on this morning. The rain continued during the entire return trip. A highlight was then the Nufenen- and Furka pass.
My Couchette held exquisitely. Nothing noticeable – except for the familiar, metallic squeak – caused by prolonged, sustained braking – when the brake dust can not “flow off” fast enough.
In Altdorf then a last tank refill and, after forced highway journey, the arrival at home on 18. 08 at 22:15

Epi

Back home, first of all: prepare some food and sort all the goodies!
Then, the next morning, a flat tire – the hoses were certainly 30 years old – now are Chinese ones mounted – let’s see if they also hold as long as the frenscch ones 🙂

According to the Estafette speedometer it was a total of 1042 kilometers with a total consumption of 114. 35 liters – makes an average of 11 liters / 100 km. The forced return journey and the pass-climbing was probably the main reason for the additional consumption (Couchette has an unladen weight of approx. 1700 kg). On the trip to the French Club meeting in June it was 10. 5 liters – time to adapt the carburaor setup.
