Couchette

Her name is “Couchette”, she is an Estafette 1000, Type 2137, Year 1970, formerly long-high-roof version, with a glass fiber reinforced camping car construction. The sidewalls are build from 40 mm GFR sandwich plates with double glass windows. Her length is 5.5m with a weight of >1600Kg

She was transformed in the early seventies and all the time was owned by its constructor, up to his high old age, when he sold it to two students.
This Estafette i discovered finally 2006 in an advertisment in west switzerland. Unfortunately I never met the first owner. He himself planned and designed the GRP conversion and drew it with ink on format A1.
The execution is very professionally made – perhaps by a local boat builder (?).
Everything is very robust and lasts until today.
For changes, whenever possible, I try to take old used materials and try to keep the original style. Some changes were necessary for technical reasons, others things were just too impractical solved, but you can see for yourself on the sub pages

Couchette, i call her, because it is very nice to sleep in her – and with an certain age one needs from time to time a power nap 🙂
