In the seventies and eighties , the Municipal Transport Services Zurich ( Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich – VBZ) used several Estafettes for the ticket machines maintenance or internal transport needs.
Also the Zurich Civil Protection had Estafettes in use – about 16-17 pieces – some of them were used as team transporters.

I don’t know how many of these Estafettes survived.

It was 2005 when my colleague “Buti” bought a Camping Estafette (high-roof, long version) – it remembered me the Estafette from my childhood and i was exploring the web.
A garage just offered an Estafette for sale – a blue VBZ Estafette 1000 R2137 from 1978.
Unfortunately it was too rusty for my technically possibilities at that time and my decision fell on a Camping Estafette which I had discovered a bit later in the French part of Switzerland (Couchette).

However, some time later the VBZ Estafette found its unexpected way to us 🙂

She has been standing around for14 years and is now getting her restoration.
