Tank cover
2017, the opening, a leftover from the old plug-in tank, finally had to be closed. To have access to the vent connections and the sensor of the fuel gauge. Also to have the tank nozzle and hose in the living area was a permanent annoyance. I wanted to place a cover over the tank. And for the planned seat also a fixation to the chassis had to be considered.
Enclosure, Seat right and seat left
The original bench was a bit deep and should be raised. I wanted to hide the tank socket in an “enclave” and integrate it into the seat on the right side.
Bed-bench
The folding mechanism for the bench I found in the metal recicling container of our municipality 🙂 – it comes from a former sofa bed. The function corresponds to the well-known folding seats – as used in the common Campingbus conversions (e. g. Westfalia)
2021, it goes on
Supports
Supports for the bench seat made of beech wood bolted/glued/laminated
Support for middle upholstery piece plus bed frame pad,
The central cushion is “hidden” behind the back
Seating and sleeping surfaces
The seats have got a frame now, the planned hinges I have dispensed
Upholstery and fabric
The upholstery was made at FA Badertscher.
The different foam rubber combinations are a science in themselves 🙂 -> Badertscher-fabrikladen
Lacquer
First with primer, then matt black, the wooden Multiplex intermediate parts are “painted” with polyester
Montage
The bench is a long-term project 🙂
The Loudspeakers are a Sunday’s handicraft 🙂
Now with the upholstery of the back/side wall covers and the basin belts.
Replace old ventilation grid
The old ventilation grilles were in poor condition, on ebay-kleinanzeigen.de I found new grilles from a VW bus. The grids had to be modified “slightly” 🙂
