It must have been 2010 , on the periodic car inspection (MFK Frauenfeld), where they complained a rust hole in the left front corner. W/o any lift and welding machine i had to go to a nearby car repair shop and let them do a temporary repair. 2014, now fitted with car lift i could first time inspect the whole chassis
With all that Tektyl / car body coating it look not that bad – so i was going to renew the temporary repair.
It was quickly clear that this would be not enough.
The half-round rocker panels behind the the glas fiber was nearly rusted away – also the 4 wheel house corners .
Well, after the horor came bravery 🙂
Cut & Clean & Repair
After all was cut outand cleaned, several coils must be formed.
Finish
After that new glas fiber rocker panels had to be created – and laminated into the body.
For this i used 100 mm woven glas fiber band .
Then some filler and sanding and recoating.
At the end i injected around 2 Kg anti-corrosion grease each rocker panel. for this i adapted a normal car body coating pistol so that the vase could be set under pressure.
To keep the hot grease liquid i used an old mobile 220 volt heating plate
Rear axle
2017 i desided to overhaul the rear axle.
Fortunatelly there are wholes in the floor to accesss the screws for the subframes (often saw conversions where this point was forgotten)
All has been sandblasted and painted. The rear zylinders has been overhauled and fitted with new brake tubes (KUNIFER)
The wheel bearings was – for my taste – good enough to be remounted.
The chassis beam areas which have contact with the axle was quite rusty and has been welded.
Breakes
The flaring tool, the main brake cylinder rep. set, the UNF T-piece and copper washers were from Ebay. The Kunifer tube and screw connections was from “Korosionschutzdepot”.

The new (simple circuit) front wheel brake cylinders and the repair kits for the rear wheel cylinders were from Vehicule Ancien,
The front wheel cylinder connections were too much sinked and had to be reworked,
